RepeatOnNewPage bug

There is a bug with RepeatOnNewPage in RS 2000 that makes my reports look
really ugly and unprofessional.
I have a TableGroup with a Header and Footer.
Group is set to PageBreakAtEnd.
Header is set to RepeatOnEveryPage.
Footer has nothing special.
I'm rendering as PDF and have installed all service packs and hotfixes.
Everything works fine except when the detail section completely fills the
last page of the group, pushing the Footer off to its own page. In this
case, the header does not repeat.
For example: if 2 rows of details can fit on a page, the report will come
out looking like:
Header1
details
details
-- page break --
Header1
details
Footer1
-- page break --
Header2
details
details
-- page break --
Header2
details
details
-- page break --
Footer2 -- :(
-- page break --
Header3
details
Footer3
One possible workaround would be to move the Footer into the details section
and use Visibility to only show it when on the the last record of the group,
but this seems pretty sloppy.
Anyone have a better solution? MSFT care to respond?Another workaround is to split the group in two -- one that contains just the
Header with RepeatOnEveryPage and one that contains just the Footer with
PageBreakAtEnd and a GroupExpression of "true".

RepeatOnNewPage

I have this property set to true for several table header rows in a table
that I want repeated on each page. It doesn't seem to be working. it
displays on the first page and that's it... Any ideas...?
TIA,
DanWhich property have you set to true..'
there is a 'RepeatOnNewPage' property which will set for the whole page
header. you don't really set them one by one. you can click this on the most
left of your header row. one thing to indicate that you are clicking the
right thing is that, it will select the whole row, and show the
RepeatOnNewPage property.

problem. What it really should say is repeat on every page which has
items in this table.

Repeat Group 2 per page

I have a table with a group. I can set RepeatOnNewPage = true on the group
properties to have it page break for each item, but is it possible to put 2
items and then a page break?

This might work:
1. In the 'Layout' view of BIDS, select the table.
2. Right click the table and select 'Properties.'
3. On the 'Groups' tab, select the 'Add...' button.
4. Below 'Group on:' and 'Expression' enter the following:
'=Ceiling(RowNumber(Nothing)/2)'
5. Select 'Page break at end'
5. Select 'OK' and 'OK' again.

Repeat grid header on each page

Hi,

If a grid header has the RepeatOnNewPage property set to True, how can I figure out when the header is continuing on next pages, so I can add the text '... continue' on every page except the first one?

Thank you.

Radu.

You can try using the RowNumber() function to determine if it's the first record (first page) or not.|||

Thank you for your answer...

... but it doesn't work. My report displays more tables, not only one, and each table displays rows grouped by a field XYZ. The RowNumber(Nothing) function gives the current row index in the entire context. It might be helpful to have a variable which is reset to 1 for each table.

I've tried to pass the group name parameter to the RowNumber function (RowNumber("XYZ_group"), where "XYZ_group" is the name of the group by XYZ field), but it gives the total number of records available in one group.

If you have some more ideas, please feel free to suggest them... I'm trying more and I'll post here the answer if I manage to find it.

Hi Alexa,

greetings!

a suggestion.. if you please

why dont you write an IIF on pagenumber globals on the visibility condition of the textbox which displays continue

=IIF(Global!PageNo.value = 1,True,False)

hope i am not missing a point in ur question, correct me if i am.

You're not allowed to use the PageNumber in the report body... you may use it only in the report header and footer.

I would have liked to be able to use it... because I have another issue: I want to leave a blank page after a sub-report if the sub-report finishes at an odd page. Imagine you're printing something on both sides and a new chapter you want to start at a odd page (it's more readable than starting the new chapter from the even page).

It seems the guys from Microsoft couldn't allow PageNumber to be accessed from the Body (definitely they had a good reason, but what is that reason?).
