repeatwith property

I have tried for days to get certain textboxes and tables in page body

to repeat on multiple page reports

Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

The repeatwith property is not available on tables and is not supported by physical paginated renderes.

However, the RepeateOnNewPage property of table&group headers and footers is supported by all renderers.

Thank you,

Nico

How to use static query in my header textbox

= "SELECT [Contractor Name] FROM tblvendor WHERE vendorID=" & Parameters!vendorID.Value

It display the text "SELECT [Contractor Name] FROM tblvendor WHERE vendorID=354" not the query result

Repeatwith doesnt work (for me)

Hi

I am using vs 2005 and sql server 2005 with reporting serices.

I have a report with a body that has a two nested lists.

The inner list is called List2 and the outer list is called List1.

The outer list contains fields such as Company Name.

The inner list contains other details

If the inner list goes to a new page, i would like to have the outer list fields repeat.

From what i have read, i should set the repeatwith value of each field in the outer list to the inner list name.

It couldnt be more simple, but i cant get it to work?

Is this a known bug? Do i need a patch? Am i doing something wrong?

Thanx

Jerry Cicierega

Certainly someone has bumped into this issue? Anyone? :-)|||

Try putting all the field in the outer list, in one rectangle and set the RepeatWith property of the Rectangle to list2 (inner list)

Shyam

|||I tried what Shyam suggested but it didn't work. Has anyone been able to get the RepeatWith property to do what it says it's supposed to do (The name of the data region with which this report item should be repeated if the data region spans multiple pages)?

Repeating Data On Each Page

Hi

Pulled all my hair out now, can someone please offer some help before I go totally mad...

I have no page header, this is all in the body. I have a List with account number and job number in it at the top, called list1. In list1 I have list2, with the job details, basically a list of people who attended the job. The fields in list2 are textboxes, they're not in a table.

EG:

Acc No: 12345

Job No: 54321

Name

Fred Bloggs

Joe Bloggs

Etc

When my list2 of names goes over 1 page, I want to repeat the account number and job number on each subsequent page. In my real report I actually have 10 fields I want to repeat.

I then want to be able to export this report to a PDF.

I can't put the header in the page header and RepeatWith doesn't work when exporting to PDF, or at all depending on what mood it's in.

Does anyone have a workaround for this please?

Cheers

Hi

I don't want to ask the obvious but why can't you use a table? I initially used listboxes for most of my reports but have since found that I can use tables for almost anything once I start merging cells and things like that.
|||

Hello.

I can't use a table because I have all different spacing between the columns and rows. It's not a list of data as in my example, I've just made it simpler in that so it's easier to understand the problem.

For info, in the meantime, I've used an answer provided at the top of this page http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showpost.aspx?postid=638813&siteid=1&sb=0&d=1&at=7&ft=11&tf=0&pageid=1 which I really didn't want to do because it's so damn messy. But it does mean I can have information in the page header and it appears on more than just the first page. Silly me for thinking I can use a Repeat property and it will actually work.

It's so funny reading posts, MSDN and websites about this problem when MS try to justify why this is so difficult to achieve and what the problems are behind it, as if it's something so out of the ordinary people will just accept it the reasoning behind it. I'd love to have been in that meeting where someone said we're releasing RS without the ability to put data in the page header/footer, surely they were sacked on the spot....weren't they?

Repeating a textbox on every page of the report

Hi,
I have something like this in the report body
>> TEXTBOX1 = Fields ! MyFieldName.Value <<
>> the table definition here <<
My problem is that I want to repeat TEXTBOX1 on all the pages if the table
has more than one page,
Right now only appear in the first page.
I tried to set TEXTBOX1.RepeatWith = TABLE1 but it has no effect.
In case it helps the value will not change of value in the report. I'm open
to use any other mean like a parameter, etcyou have to put this information in the table header himself
and setup this table header row to be repeated on each page.

Repeat on Every Page - For Headers

Using SSRS 2005:
I created a text box in my report header, which references a text box in my
report body: =ReportItems!textbox88.Value
In my report body, hidden textbox88 contains my data:
=Format(Parameters!StartDate.Value, "dd MMM yy HH:mm:ss")
This all works great, except for the fact that textbox88 only exists on the
first page, so the header only has a value on the first page.
Here's the question: How do I make textbox88 Repeat on Every Page, which
let's me see a value in the header on Every Page?
Thanks,
--
RandyYou could copy that box into your page header instead of your report
headrer.

difference is between a page header and report header. I created the header
by viewing the report in the Layout tab, right-clicking off to the side of
the page, and selecting "Page Header."
There are many posts in the archives here that describe why you can't put
fields directly into headers. Fields must be put into something in the body
and then the header can reference that something to allow the data in appear
in the header.
I still haven't been able to spot anything that allows a field in the body
to repeat on every page, so that the data in the field appears in the header
on every page.

dataset, so there is no need for the page header text box to take its value
from textbox88. It can be taken directly from the parameter! The expression
for your page header textbox can be:
=Format(Parameters!StartDate.Value, "dd MMM yy HH:mm:ss")

Repeat Group Header on new page

Hi,
To explain my question, I need to explain the report a bit, so, pl bear with me.

I have a table in the body of my report.
The table has one grouping.
The group header has been set to repeat on new page and this works fine.

Here is my problem..
The group footer has another table embedded in it. (call it the FooterTable)

When the FooterTable runs to the next page, the GroupHeader of the MainTable doesn't repeat itself. I am assuming it should as the FooterTable is still in the GroupFooter of the main table.

But I cannot get the GroupHeader to repeat on a new page.

(FYI : The reason I had to embed a second table was because I have a set of 3,4 lines in the Group Footer which must stay together in one page. I put these lines in the second table and use the KeepTogether property on the table. I didnt know of any other way to do this. )

Thanks.
SriWithAQuestion.

Hello,

The structure of a table is:
header
subgroups / details
footer

The RepeatOnNewPage property is available for headers & footers and we will attempt to render them on every page of the subgroups and details.

We have few other rules implemented for tables:
- every row of the table has an implicit keep together
- widow and orphan rules

In your case:
- if the FooterTable is smaller than page height than it will be on its own page (because of its implicit keep together)
- if there is enough room left on the page, a detail of the main table (assuming there is more than one) should be rendered together with the footer - widow/orphan rules
- if a detail is present and there is still room on the page, then the main table header will be renderer due to its keep together

Hope this helps to clarify the behavior,
Nicoleta|||

A rectangle around the lines solve the "keep together" problem, doesn't it? But it won't make them show up on every page. No table footer will do that since they are just footers and should appear last. I think I have managed to get a matrix to show a footer on each page (probably because I didn't want it to since the table continued on the next page!).

rendering pdf files with expressions in header or footer

I have a quite complex report with a header and footer (displays on every
page) that must be renedered as pdf. In the body I have a table within a
list. This works well and is relatively quick with SP1. However if I add any
expression to a field in the header or footer the pdf file takes 4 minutes
to generate (vs 10s without the expression). For instance, if I add the page
number to the header it will take 4 minutes to generate. I have not
experienced this problem with any other report. Any idea what is causing
this?
ThanksA bit more info on this. I've discovered that it only happens where I have a
table within a list and the grouping on the list is done on a field with a
large number of records. It renders fine in html, but it adds up to 4
minutes for the pdf generation. If I remove the expression from the header
it is fine. If I add a textbox with a value of ABCDEF - no problem. But if I
change that to ="ABCDEF" - very slow pdf generation.
Thanks
